Chameleon Spotlight
Track spotlight for Opple Lighting, Shanghai
Comissioned by Opple Lighting, Holscher Design was to create a track spotlight for retail, galleries and similar public spaces.
My suggestion was to create a simple cylinder body with a sleeve component. This way, a wider range of visual and material configurations could be applied to the object while being cost-efficient to produce. Like a chameleon, it can change its appearance to suit its surroundings. Additionally, it offers a choice of six different anti-glare devices and an integrated sensor that allows for precise adjustment of light colour from the RGB space.
PROCESS
There were several iterations for the placement and shape of the sleeve component in particular. I eventually moved it towards the back of the cylinder exposing the front, allowing for colour/material contrast between the body and the sleeve, as well as to conceal the joint connection in the back.
